Columbus Day

Each year, it becomes more enjoyable to hear my daughter try and explain to me why she thinks Columbus day is a sham. “He didn’t land on the U.S. homeland, he wasn’t the first person here, he spread disease and violence.” HaHaHa. Kids and their crazy ideas.

Letter from Bank of America

Dear Sir.  We hope you close your account with us because it totally isn’t worth it for us to be your banker.  You suck up our bandwidth on our website, clog up the lines at the ATM, and take up space in our parking lot while our customers with semi-respectable balances wait.  Now the government won’t even let us stick you overdraft charges like we used to be able to.  We will commence taking $6 out of your account each month in hope that this will tick you off enough to take your business elsewhere.  Please just go.  Sincerely, Bank of America.

Definition: Free Market System

A free market consists of a marketplace that is free of government intervention.   In a free enterprise market system, the government control is limited to the collection of taxes and the enforcement of contracts.  In a free market system, the state or government does not regulate how goods and services are used.  Instead, the principles of supply and demand economics take over.  Disciples and advocates of the free market system believe that privately owned businesses and enterprise perform better and more efficiently than state owned enterprises.

Mortgage Rates at All Time Low, Again

I keep seeing headlines like this.  I don’t necessarily understand what it means.  Mortgage rates continue to reach an all time low, and are expected to continue there decline.  It reminds me of hearing slogans like, “Now is the best time to buy a car” or something along those lines.  Then I hear how banks aren’t lending.  If mortgage rates are at there lowest, but mortgage banks are not giving mortgage loans, does it make a sound?

Underwater Mortgage – Rising Home Tide

Unfortunately, we keep hearing that more home mortgages are under water and sinking fast.  What is an underwater mortgage?  What percentage of under water mortgages become foreclosures?  Are these investment opportunities?  Would it be beneficial if the government changed the rules and ordered low mortgage rates for existing mortgages that are underwater? Please advise.

What is the Free Market System

As we contintue to build out this blog, we will discuss, in our opinion what the Free Market System is as well as why Free Enterprise is good.
